I’m not going to review the book of Ephesians. I’m not going to give a commentary on the book of Ephesians. I’m not even going to say a thing about the English Standard Version. All of these have been discussed by others much better than I ever could.
What I am going to do is explain why this particular journal is so great and why I would recommend it. I wouldn’t have know about them if it weren’t for using them in our weekly Bible study at Resurrection Church, but they’re my new favorite Bible study tool.
I like to think I’m kinda artistic, but when it comes to illustrations in my journaling Bible, I usually end up copying something or working on the design on scratch paper over and over and hoping I can copy it correctly. I also don’t really like writing in my Bible beyond underlining or small notes, in spite of the fact that it’s a journaling Bible. Go figure.
These journals (Crossway sells a whole set, one for every book of the New Testament) are not just visually gorgeous inside and out (look at those illustrations!) but the layout is very practical. The text is large enough to mark up all over the words and margins, and the opposite page is completely blank if you want to draw out diagrams, timelines, etc.
Perfect for Bible classes, inductive studies, personal devotions, or sermon notes even.
And, a side note, if you ever competed in the National Bible Bee, you probably have a special connection to inductive studies, which these journals are perfect for.
