Life is complicated.
That's just a fact.
In the midst of every day busyness, it's hard to slow down and enjoy what we have when we have it. To hear past the white noise and listen to the birds chirping. To see the trees, not just the forest.
I don't have some one-size-fits-all solution for how to make time to enjoy the simple things of life, but maybe that's just it. Maybe we have to be intentional and make time in the middle of our days to look for the beauty all around us, hidden in plain sight.
I think we tend to underestimate the joy kids take in the simple things. For example, saving a couple of those little green twisty ties each time you went to the grocery store and giving them to the five-year-old me, you would have made my year.
Or look at the little boy, playing outside, finding a dandelion and presenting it to his mom with more enthusiasm than if he had just purchased her a bouquet of roses.
Sometimes we have to let go and let God take our cares, to sit back and listen to the birds chirp. To look past the forest and see the trees. To take joy in the simple things.
